Virgil Vaughn Ward

Whiteville: Virgil Vaughn Ward, 81 of Whiteville died at his residence on Friday March 15, 2019.  He was the son of the late Ernest Ward and Feetie Bell Watts and was preceded in death by his brothers, Floyd Ward, Gilbert Ward, Lloyd Ward and two sisters, Vera Herring and Clara Pierce. He was a member of Trinity Baptist Church for over 34 years.  He worked as a contractor (Earth Works) and earlier years as a Route Salesman.  He served in the US Navy stationed in Norfolk, Virginia until his term of completion of obligated service in 1958. 

Survivors include wife, Lila Ruth Ward of Whiteville; sons, Jeffrey Ward (Stacey) of Massachusetts, Dale Ward (Jill) of Oak Island; daughter, Patricia Ward Pol of Whiteville, NC, Denise Davis (Wayne) of Chadbourn, NC,  and Kathy Fields (Keith) of Whiteville, NC, Natalie Carroll (Kookie); grandsons, Max Ward, Abel Pol, Joshua Carroll (Brittany), Nicholas Fields (Amanda), John Fields (April); granddaughters, Lorna Ward, Carly Ward, Annabel Pol, Wesli Hull, Jessica Strickland (Colby), Brinkley Carroll; six great grandchildren, several beloved nieces and nephews, and Aunt Ruth Lee of Whiteville, NC. 

Funeral Services will be Tuesday, March 19, 2019 at Trinity Baptist Church at 2:00pm with Rev. Randy Speight and Rev. Steve Bailey officiating with burial following at Columbus Memorial Park in Whiteville.

Visitation will be Tuesday, March 19, 2019 at Trinity Baptist Church at 1:00pm-1:45pm prior to the service.
