Thelba Albert "Bud" Benson

Thelba Albert "Bud" Benson, age 95, Lake Waccamaw, NC, passed away Saturday, October 22, 2022 at the Angel House Life Care Center.  He was born on June 2, 1927 in Columbus County to the late Clarence Wesley Benson and Ella Jane Black Benson.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife; Essie Benson, his daughter; Donna Little; and his granddaughter; Vicki Keeter Strom.

Bud served his country in the United States Army.  He worked as a farmer, owned Benson's Amoco for 10 years and then worked as a clerk with the ABC Store.

He is survived by two nephews; Johnie Keeter, Sr (Sandra), of Harvest, Alabama and Vernon Keeter of Whiteville, NC, a Granddaughter; Marian "Libby" Piispanen (Richard) of Stevensville, MD, two additional nephews, 5 Great Grandchildren, 4 Great-great Grandchildren and several cousins.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, October 28, 2022, at 11:00 am at the McKenzie Mortuary Chapel with Rev. Dr. Darrin Moore officiating.  Burial will follow at Hillcrest Cemetery, Lake Waccamaw, NC.  The family will receive friends from 10:00 - 11:00 am prior to the service.
