Robert Byrd

Robert Byrd, age 80, of Whiteville, passed away on Sunday, October 8, 2023, at Columbus Regional Healthcare.  Robert was born in Columbus County on October 22, 1942, to the late Joe and Irene Byrd. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife; Gracie Jernigan Byrd.

Robert worked for 20 years in tool manufacturing with Council Tool Company, Lake Waccamaw.

Left to cherish his memory are his son; Joseph Rob Byrd (Melissa Hope) of Nakina, his grandson; Colby Dawson Byrd and his granddaughter; Gracelyn Marie Byrd, a sister; Jane Stubbs of Morganton, NC and several nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held on Thursday, October 12, 2023, at 3:00 pm in McKenzie Mortuary Chapel with Rev. Roger Coffee officiating.  The family will receive friends from 2:00 - 2:45 pm prior to the service. Burial will follow in Flynn Cemetery.
