Rev./ Dr. Merlin Lee Boone

Shallotte: Rev. /Dr. Merlin Lee Boone , 74 of Shallotte died Thursday, October 25,2018 at the New Hanover Regional Medical Center in Wilmington. He was the son of the late Paul Boone and Thelma Roberson Boone. He was on the General Board of the N.C. Baptist Convention from 1981-1985. He was a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church where he had pastored for over 25 years.

Survivors include his wife, Diane Taylor Boone of the home,sons, Bartley (Boomer )Boone (wife Billie) of Holden Beach, John Purvis (Penny Woolard significant other), Jamie Purvis (Lorie Bostick ( significant other) , Jason Purvis (wife Dawn ) , Justin Purvis ( wife Heather), Robert Burt (wife Colleen) ,all of Greenville, N.C., brothers, Paul Boone (wife)  Sue), Willard Boone (wife Sharon), and Philip Boone, all of Oklahoma ,  grandchildren, Amber Delong ( Husband Christopher) , Alaina, Kaitlyn,Jaiden, Kayla, Anna Grace, McKenzie, Aiden, Eli and Mac, and Matthew Shroyer , Great-grandchildren, Shyla and Makenna.

Funeral Service will be Sunday, October 28,2018  at 3:00 p.m. at  Mt. Zion Baptist Church with Rev. Coy Long officiating . Burial will follow in the Church Cemetery. Visitation will be on Sunday, October 28,2018  at the church from 2:00 p.m. until 2:45 prior to the service.

 In lieu of Flowers , Memorials may be made to Mt. Zion Baptist Church @ 9512 Red Hill Rd Whiteville. N.C.  28472
