Phyllis Jeanette Suggs Long, age 80, of Whiteville, passed away peacefully at Lower Cape Fear Angel House on Wednesday, October 29, 2025.  Phyllis was born on January 30, 1945 in the Old Dock Community to the late Tilmon Suggs and Eula Blackmon Suggs.  In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband; James Elton Long.

Phyllis and Elton were the owner/operators of the D & D Quick Mart in Williams Township for over 20 years.  Phyllis was all about her family. Her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren were her priority.  She also loved to spend time studying her Bible.

Left to cherish her memory are her sons; Dana Elton Long of Wiscasset, ME and Derek James Long and daughter in law; Lisa of Tabor City, brother; William M. Suggs of Wilmington, NC, 4 grandchildren; Derek James Long, Eric J. Long, Dustin Long, Peyton Long, and 4 great grandchildren; Rhett Long, Kathryn Long, Sansa Long, Bentley Long.

A graveside service will be held on Saturday, November 1, 2025, at 1:00 pm at Whiteville Memorial Cemetery with Andrea Mohommed and Deidre Suggs Wood officiating.

The family has requested that no food be brought to the residence.  They appreciate your thoughts and prayers.
