Nancy Stanley Thompson Obituary

Nancy Stanley Thompson, age 84, of Whiteville, passed away peacefully at her home on Thursday, March 12, 2026.  Nancy was born in Columbus County on March 17, 1941 to the late Lacy Carlton Stanley and Rosa Cox Stanley.  In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her sisters: Dock Gore and Connie Duncan and her brothers: Frank Stanley, Bobby Stanley and Carlton Stanley.


Nancy worked as an operator for the phone company for 30 plus years.  After retiring from that position she worked in the admissions office at Columbus County Hospital for about 10 years.  She loved to work in her yard, gardening, working with hanging baskets even starting a business selling them, gardening and adored her feline companions.


Left to cherish her memory are nieces; Janet Holden (Allison) and Renee Noll (Brian) both of Supply, Sherita James (Frank) of Whiteville, Amanda Thompson of Lake Waccamaw, and Jennifer Thompson of Hallsboro, nephews; Barry Wilson of Asheville, Greg Wilson of Pennsylvania and Johnny Thompson of Hallsboro, Special Great Great Nephew; Samuel Noll of Supply, Special Friend; Rachel Morin of Chadbourn and her adored furry feline; Ally.


A graveside service will be held on Saturday, March 14, 2026 at 11:00 am at Whiteville Memorial Cemetery with Rev. Teresa Smith officiating.
