Margaret Turner Hooks of Whiteville, N.C.
Margaret Turner Hooks, 92, passed away peacefully with family in attendance on April 14, 2020 at Liberty Commons of Wilmington.
She was born February 4, 1928 to Albert Lacey Turner and wife Mary Lewis Turner of Chadbourn. She graduated from Pineland College. First Baptist Church of Whiteville was her beloved place of worship until she moved to Brightmore of Wilmington six years ago. In lieu of flowers, the family would prefer that memorial gifts be made to her church family at First Baptist, or to Lower Cape Fear Lifecare.
She was predeceased by her parents and husband of thirty years, D. Jack Hooks, Sr., of Whiteville.
Survivors include four children: D. Jack Hooks, Jr. and wife Emily, of Whiteville; Edward Turner Hooks and wife Cynthia of Mount Pleasant, S.C.; Patti Hooks Lee and husband Eli, of Wilmington; Timothy Marcus Hooks and wife Dori of Mount Pleasant, S.C. She is also survived by seven grandchildren: Katherine Lacey Hooks; John Alexander Hooks and wife Catherine; Haven Lee Heibein.; Marcus Eli Lee; Jackson Turner Hooks; Graham Robertson Hooks; Timothy Campbell Hooks. She is further survived by one step-granddaughter, Misty Soles Nunnery of Wilmington, N.C. and one great granddaughter, Vivienne Heibein, the mere mention of whose name placed Marge in a joyful mood!
Because of the current Covid-19 restrictions, a private graveside service with immediate family members only in attendance will be held at Columbus Memorial Park Cemetery with the Reverend Joseph Washburn of First Presbyterian Church presiding on Friday, April 17,2020 at 11:00 a.m.
The family expresses their sincere appreciation to the staff of the Brightmore Community of Wilmington, particularly the Ladies in ParaKlay Way and on Magnolia Hall for their kindness and thoughtful care.
