February 19th at 11:30am, Jenny Louise Hudson Cox quietly and peacefully left this life and went home to be with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Born on a farm in rural Lee County NC on September 29, 1931, Louise was the 2nd of 5 daughters of the late Floyd Greene Hudson and Carrie Mae Helms Hudson. She graduated from King College in Bristol, TN. Upon graduation, she moved back to Sanford and married Clarence Cox. They were married for 47 years prior to his death.
A servant of Christ from an early age, Louise found her calling as a teacher. She taught in Lee County for 47 years in public schools and finished her career at Central Carolina Community College. After retiring, Louise’s love of teaching continued as she taught Bible studies, Sunday school classes and helped her grandchildren with papers and projects. She continued to serve Christ by volunteering to prepare taxes at senior centers in Lee and Avery Counties, working with prisoners through a prison ministry and serving the church in many ways. Louise was an avid reader, especially of Scripture, memorizing 100 verses in the last few years. She loved learning and was curious about everything.
Left to celebrate her life and grieve her loss are her daughters, Dianne McDonald (Clyde) and Angela Washburn (Joseph), grandchildren Stephen McDonald, Hannah Suire (Nate), Caroline Haller (Greg) and Jacob Washburn along with 3 great grandchildren, a sister-in-law, Opal Moore and many special nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held at Pocket Presbyterian Church, Sandford, NC, in the sanctuary on Saturday, February 25th beginning at 10:00 am followed by a Celebration of Life service at 11:00 am.
