John Cale Lennon, Jr., age 86, of Whiteville, passed away on Monday, January 11, 2021. He was born in Robeson County on November 6, 1934 to the late John Cale Lennon, Sr. and Elizabeth Fisher Lennon.  He was also predeceased by his wife, Patricia Whitley Lennon.

John graduated from Whiteville High School.  He was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in the U.S. Army, serving in Germany in the 3rd Armored Division and later became a Captain in the National Guard. He went on to earn a B.A. in Business Administration and History from East Carolina University and later served as the Director of the Alumni Association from 1982-1983. In 1970 Mr. Lennon joined Central Carolina Bank and retired after 30 years, as a Senior Vice President. During his banking career he was also involved with Sales and Marketing Executives International (SMEI) and served as President.

John was an avid duck and quail hunter and ACC sports lover.  He was known to be an avid storyteller and loved entertaining a crowd.  In his later years he retired to his family farm in Whiteville. 

Mr. Lennon is survived by his daughter, Sally Lennon Brown (Darren) of Alamo, CA, a son, John Cale Lennon III (Vivian) of Decatur, Ga., Charle Hoffman Lennon the mother of his children, stepdaughter Ashley Inman of Whiteville, stepson Daryl Inman of Whiteville and grandchildren: Cale Lennon, Nicholas Lennon, Katheryn Brown, Barrett Brown, Carmen Inman, Ella Inman and Yeats Inman.

A private service will be held.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Angel House Hospice Care Center of Whiteville. 206 Warrior Trail, Whiteville, NC  28472.
