Joan Young Watts, age 92, of Hallsboro, passed away peacefully Monday, March 30, 2026, at Liberty Commons Health and Rehab Center, Whiteville. Joan was born in Columbus County on January 11, 1934 to the late Audrey Young and Grace Sasser Young. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband of 14 years; Cicero “Jack” Watts, brother; J.A. Young, sister; Jacqueline Strickland and niece; Ashley Soles.
Joan worked for 30+ years at National Spinning and then for over 20 years at Premier Living. Some of her hobbies were shopping, cooking and baking, and taking long walks. She was a member at Hallsboro United Methodist Church..
Left to cherish her memory are her niece; Janet Soles of Whiteville, nephew; Jeffie Sellers of Hallsboro, niece; Jean Hyatt of Whiteville, niece; Audrey Brown of Bolton, and nephew; Jerry Strickland of Whiteville.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, April 3, 2026, at 11:00 am at Hallsboro United Methodist Church with Rev. Mark Hicks officiating. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Cemetery, Lake Waccamaw.
