Joan Ruth Roberts Young, age 63, passed away Tuesday, November 29, 2022. Joan was born on April 2, 1959 in Columbus County to the late Roy Roberts and Ruth Strickland Roberts. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by a brother; Gene Roberts.
Joan graduated from Whiteville High School. She worked as a medical assistant and also as a cashier at Leder Department Store in Whiteville, NC.
She is survived by her husband; Johnny David Young of Hallsboro, NC, two stepsons; Trent Young (Grayanna) and Jason Young (Ashley) both of Lake Waccamaw, NC, a stepdaughter; Heather Young Johnson (David) of Lexington, SC, a brother; Allen Roberts (Cathy) of Whiteville, NC, 5 step grandchildren; Pierson Young, Jillian Young, Evan Young, Alex Johnson, and Caroline Johnson, 2 nieces and 2 great nieces.
A memorial service will be held at a later date. Friends may visit our tribute page to leave condolences for the family.
