Obituary
Jimmy Carroll Blackwell, age 70, passed away Saturday, March 25, 2023, at Novant Health Brunswick Medical, Supply, NC. Jimmy was born in Marion, SC on February 25, 1953 to the late Otto Blackwell and Ozella Collins Blackwell. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters; Sondra K. Smith and Wanda K. Smith.
He served his country in the United States Army and received an Associates Degree. Jimmy worked as an Electrical Engineer for Carolina Power and Light and then Progress Energy. He loved Old Country Music, the outdoors and watching his Martins.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife; Teresa B. Blackwell, two sons; Jimmy Shane Blackwell (Dawn) of Tabor City and Jason Bryan Blackwell (Jessica) of Leland and a daughter; Crystal Carol B. Baker of Whiteville, and six grandchildren; Hayley Blackwell, Brayden Blackwell, Sidera Blackwell, Makalya Baker, Alyssa Blackwell and Grant Blackwell.
A funeral will be held at Trinity Baptist Church, Whiteville, on Wednesday, March 29, 2023, at 2:00 pm with Rev. Stephen Bailey officiating. Internment will follow at Whiteville Memorial Cemetery with Masonic and Military Honors. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, March 28, 2023, from 6-8 pm at McKenzie Mortuary.
