Jimmie Sue McMillan Ward, 87, of Chadbourn died Friday, March 23, 2018 at Lower Cape Fear Hospice and Life Care Center in Whiteville, NC.  The daughter of the late Daniel Adam McMillan and Bessie Williamson.  Preceded in death by her sister, Ruby Rabon Spivey.  She was employed by the Columbus County Board of Education from 1953 until 1993.  Jimmie Sue was a member of Chadbourn Baptist Church.  Survivors include her husband, Thomas Tucker Ward, of the home; son, Tucker McMillan Ward and his wife Ava of Chadbourn and daughter Susan Ward Carroll and her husband, Dale of Cary, NC.  She served on the Chadbourn Town Council from 1996 through 2009.  For many years, she was an active member of the Chadbourn Strawberry Festival Association and former president of the Association.  She was also a former member of the Chadbourn Klondyke Order of the Eastern Star.  She attended Campbell College and graduated from East Carolina University.    No formal visitation will be held, however family and friends are welcome at the home at 702 N. Elm St., Chadbourn, NC.  A graveside service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 25th at Chadbourn Memorial Cemetery, with the Reverend Charles Franklin McDowell III of Chadbourn Presbyterian Church officiating.  The family requests in lieu of flowers memorials be made to Lower Cape Fear Hospice and Life Care Center, 206 Warrior Trail, Whiteville, NC 28472.
