Jerry Woodrow Lanier, age 84, of Whiteville, NC, passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 29, 2025, at Greenbrier of Fairmont.  Jerry was born on January 11, 1941 to the late Woodrow Wilson Lanier and Ruby Pope Lanier.

After graduation from high school, Jerry served his country honorably in the United States Army.  He eventually went to work at Carolina Telephone where he became a Supervisor.  He retired from Carolina Telephone in 2000.  He was very proud of the fact that he was able to receive his pilot's license.

Left to cherish his memory are his son; Kevin Scott Lanier of Fort Mill, SC, a granddaughter; Ellis Lanier of Columbia, SC and several cousins.

A funeral service will be held on Thursday, April 3, 2025, at 11:00 am in the McKenzie Mortuary Chapel.  Burial will follow at Union Valley Baptist Church Cemetery with military honors.
