Jerrie Lynn Parker Sutton

Jerrie Lynda Parker Sutton, 77, of Whiteville, passed away May 10, 2023, at New Hanover Regional Medical Center with family by her side. “Jerrie Lynn” as she was fondly known, was born on November 27, 1945, to the late Donald Ray and Elizabeth Failes Parker of Wilmington, North Carolina.

Jerrie Lynn graduated from New Hanover High School in 1963. She married her high school sweetheart the late Gerald (Jake) Sutton in 1963 and they moved from Wilmington to Whiteville in 1977. Jerrie Lynn worked at the Register of Deeds Office in New Hanover County and then was a stay-at-home mom for some time when her children were young. When her children reached school-age, she worked at Whiteville Primary School, United Methodist Church, United Carolina Bank, Campbell Oil and BB&T. She retired from Human Resources at BB&T.

Jerrie Lynn, Mom, Mama and Grandma… devoted her life to her children and grandchildren, her church and caring for her husband during his battle with Alzheimer’s. She was a long-time member of Westminster Presbyterian Church and enjoyed visiting Macedonia Baptist Church. She enjoyed doing things for others, sending cards for every occasion to friends and family, decorating her home and yard for every season and celebrating every holiday with her family.

Survivors include a son, Harvey Gerald Sutton (Angie) of North Myrtle Beach, SC; two daughters Pamela Lynn Sutton of Whiteville, NC; and Lindy Sutton Littles (Jason) of Evergreen, NC. She is also survived by two grandchildren: Christopher Cameron Bland and Rayegan Elizabeth Littles; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to being preceded in death by her husband, Jake, and her parents, Jerrie Lynn was preceded in death by her brother, James Ray Parker and sisters Jane Elizabeth Parker Southerland and Jessie Ann Parker Kirby.

A graveside service will be held on Saturday, May 13, 2023, at 10:00am at the Whiteville Memorial Cemetery with the Revered Jimmy Caines officiating. Family will receive guests at the home following the service.
