James "Jimmy" Fredrick Benson

James "Jimmy"  Fredrick Benson, age 77, of Delco, NC, passed away Friday, April 22, 2022, (not Covid-19 or vaccine related) at New Hanover Regional Medical Center.

His memorial service will be held at McKenzie Mortuary in Whiteville, NC on April 30, 2022. Visitation will be 2:00-2:45 pm and the memorial service will follow at 3:00 pm.

Jimmy was known by all to be a hard-working, kind-hearted man. He loved to tell stories, discuss politics and crack jokes, but most of all he loved to talk about the Bible. He owned and operated Benson Machine Shop for over 50 years and considered his work to be his calling. He tried to be a friend to everyone he met.

Jimmy was preceded in death by his parents, Daniel James & Dora Dale Benson and sister Bonnie Benson Kirby.

He is survived by his wife Diane (Pritchard) Benson and daughter Roxanna Dobson (David). He leaves 4 grandchildren: Tesla Dobson, Luke Robbins (Chelsea), Joshua Robbins, Seth Robbins (Jessica), and 1 great-granddaughter, Aaliyah Robbins. He is also survived by his sisters, Doris Baxendell and Lucy Simpson (Calvin) and nephews, James Simpson, Daniel Kirby & Darrel Kirby.

Jimmy will be greatly missed by many.
