James Martin Lewis, age 66, of Delco, NC passed away at the Lower Cape Fear Life Center, Whiteville, NC, Tuesday, September 29, 2020. Mr. Lewis was born in New Hanover County on February 8, 1954 to the late Clifton O. Lewis and Margaret S. Lewis. In addition to his parents Martin was preceded in death by a brother; Clifton O. Lewis, Jr.
He was the owner/operator of Lewis Plumbing for over 20 years. Martin was a member of Delco Pentecostal Freewill Baptist Church and Woodmen of the World. He loved Gospel Music, playing the piano and singing. He also loved painting, visiting people and fishing. He loved to be in a crowd.
Mr. Lewis is survived by a cousin; Mary Evelyn Bullard (L.J.) and their children; Hannah Willett, Alexis Willett, and Wyatt Willett of Delco, a sister-in-law; Marilyn Lewis and her children; Heather Robertson, Denise Lewis and Jeremy Lewis and her grandchildren; Winter Ellis (Alex), Ariel Oxendine, Adale Oxendine, Presley Rose Lewis, Lilly Robertson, Sophie Robertson and great grandson; Elijah of Delco, Sweet and dear friend to the end; Glenda Parker (Wayne), an uncle; Charles Smith and cousin Bryant Smith who he loved dearly and always, both of Bolton, NC.
A funeral service will be held Friday, October 2, 2020, at 2:00 pm at Delco Pentecostal Freewill Baptist Church with Pastor Patsy Smith and Pastor Dewey Ball officiating. A visitation will be held from 1:00 pm to 1:45 pm prior to the service. Burial will take place at Livingston Baptist Church Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be: L.J. Bullard, Jeremy Lewis, Wyatt Willett, Bryant Smith, Steven King and Eric Mintz.
