Huston Miller Obituary

On January 9, 2021, surrounded by family, Huston Verlon Miller, Jr. peacefully entered into the presence of his Lord and Savior. He was born on January 14, 1954 in New Hanover County. At the age of nine, he gave his heart to Jesus and spent his life reaching out to others sharing the Gospel he so loved. He had a smile that would warm your heart, a spirit of comfort and a heroic instinct that always made him show up when help was needed the most. Huston (H.V.) was a patriotic veteran of the U. S. Navy and firmly believed in standing for the flag and kneeling for the cross.

H.V. was a talented carpenter, a detailed painter and an overall jack-of-all trades.  Though he was very accomplished in many skills, his greatest talent was touching the hearts of others by turning tears of sorrow into laughter and joy through the Word of God.

He was preceded in death by his dad, Huston V. Miller Sr., mother, Evelyn Batten Miller, brother, Jimmy Miller, brother-in-law, Ashley Powers and his dearest friends Cleveland Baker, Buddy Smith and William Long.

He leaves behind a dear friend, caregiver and mother of his children, Nancy Lane;  two daughters, Jennifer Barber (Clyn), Tracey Richardson (Armalin), four grandchildren: Jenna Barber, Josie Barber, Kai Richardson, and Noa Richardson, four siblings:  Brenda Powers, Wade Miller (Debbie), Charlotte Hotte (Les), Denise Miller and numerous nephews, nieces and  great-nieces and nephews that he loved as his own.

A special thank you to Lower Cape Fear Life Care for their loving staff and to the congregation of Bolton Baptist Church for their gracious generosity.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Lower Cape Fear Life Care Center, 206 Warrior Trail, Whiteville, NC 28472 or Bolton Baptist Church, 126 Poplar Avenue, Bolton, NC 28423

“H.V., you will be remembered for your testimony and your influence on many lives.  You were loved by many.  Thank you for your influence on our lives and we will see you again in our eternal home.”  Love, Your Family
