Helen Barefoot Pope

Hallsboro: Helen B. Pope, 102, went to be with her Lord Monday, September 17, 2018 at Premier Living and Rehab Center.

She was the daughter of the late Nettie Jane Clemmons and Clarence M. Barefoot and the widow of Marion Ernest Pope Sr., that preceded her in death in 1984. She was also preceded in death by her daughter Elaine Pope Corbett, six brothers; William Barefoot, Robert Barefoot, Troy Barefoot, Royal Barefoot, Carson Barefoot and Howard Barefoot; four sisters, Bertha Dew, Maybelle Ward, Latha Pope, Frankie Connor; and she is survived by one sister, Margie Wooten Landhart. 

She worked 25 years at Hallsboro School as a cafeteria manager.  After she retired , she loved to travel and lover her church and friends.

To cherish her memories, she leaves her two sons, Marion (Buddy) Pope (Beverly) and Mike Pope.  Her grandchildren, Christy Jenkins, Debra Carter, Barry Corbett, Scott Corbett, Amber Grainger, Kimberly Pope and seven great grandchildren.

The Family will receive friends from  1:45 p.m. til 2:45 p.m. September 22,2018 at Hallsboro Baptist Church. Funeral service will follow at 3:00 p.m.  at the church with Rev. Scott Lewis officiating. Burial will follow at  Pierce Cemetery.

Thanks to all of the staff at Premier Living for the wonderful care that was given to her for nine months. We would also like to thank Dr. Hugh Daniels and staff at Columbus Regional Healthcare Systems for the great care for nine months and also Dr. Peggy Barnhill.
