Gary James Greer, age 71, of Clarendon, NC, passed away peacefully Saturday, November 25, 2023, at his home with his family by his side.  Gary was born in Tazewell, TN on October 17, 1952 to the late George Washington Greer and Mabel Inez Greer.  In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his sister; Jackie Arnold and brother Glenn Greer.

Fishing and hunting were favorite pastimes of his.  He worked for around 15 years with Carolina Power & Light Company as an Electrical Control Manager.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife; Cindy Greer of Clarendon, his son; Chris Greer (Andrea) of Wake Forest, NC, his daughter; Lisa Barber of Springfield, VA, a brother; Justin Greer (Mary Ann) of Oklahoma City, OK, a sister; Glenda Davis (Robert) of Sneedville, TN, and four grandchildren; Rylie Greer, Gavin Greer, Kaylea Barber, and Ian Barber.

A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, November 29, 2023, at 12:00 pm at the McKenzie Mortuary Chapel with Rev. Buddy Seay officiating.  The family will receive friends from 11:00 - 11:45 am prior to the service.

In lieu of flowers, Gary requested that donations be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN  38105.
