Obituary
F. DeLane Duncan, age 84, of Whiteville, NC, passed away Monday at Lower Cape Fear Life Care. Delane was born to the late Vollie C. Duncan and Nellie Nobles Duncan on September 30, 1937 in Columbus County. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his wife of 45 years, Peggy, four brothers and four sisters.
DeLane was a graduate of Laurinburg High School. He was a founding member of Brunswick Volunteer Fire Department where he served several years. He worked for Hub's Supply for 26 years before going to work at Whiteville Fire Department where he retired to care for his wife.
Left to cherish his memory are his two sons; Mike Duncan (Jackie) of Whiteville, NC and Chris Duncan (Teresa) of Calabash, NC, a sister; Nell Duncan of Chattanooga, Tn, three grandchildren; Laney Duncan, Kaitlin Duncan (Rob) and Jenna Duncan, and a special niece Brenda Sellers.
A funeral will be held on Friday, April 8, 2022, at 2:00 pm at Westminster Presbyterian Church, 307 S. Franklin Street, Whiteville, NC. Burial will follow at Chadbourn Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Thursday, April 7, 2022, from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at McKenzie Mortuary.
Honorary pallbearers will be the 1955 graduating class of Laurinburg High School.
In lieu of flowers and food, donations may be made to Lower Cape Fear Life Care, 206 Warrior Trail, Whiteville, NC 28472.
