Doris Virginia Dyson Smith

Doris Virginia Dyson Smith, age 89, of Whiteville, N.C., died Tuesday, June 30, 2020 at her residence.  She was born in Columbus County on December 16, 1930 to the late Joseph Dyson and Hazel Walker Dyson.

She worked as a retail sales clerk for 35 years and was a member of Highest Praise Pentecostal Church in Whiteville.

Doris leaves to cherish her memory her daugther; Sandra S. Watson (Billy), two sons; Roy Harold Smith (Wanda Gail) and Andrew Thomas Smith all of Whiteville, NC, one sister; Ruby Miller of Whiteville, one brother; William Walker of Lumberton, NC, four grandchildren; Anthony Smith, Joe Dyson, Travis Watson and Kelly Green, five great-grandchildren; Cameron Green, Lilly Smith, Callie Smith, Hannah Dyson and Ethan Dyson, and friend, Eva Woody.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, July 3, 2020 at New Life Church, Whiteville, NC at 2:00 pm with Rev. Charles Cribb officiating.  Burial will be in the Union Valley Church Cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 1:00-1:45 pm at the church prior to the service.
