Corbett Ward, age 90, of Whiteville, died Saturday at his residence. Mr. Ward was born in Columbus County to the late Simon Ward and Mary Eliza Ward. In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by his wife; Annie Mae Adams Ward, and by three daughters; Brenda Reeves, Wanda Benson, and Mary McKeithan.
He was a farmer and also worked at Whiteville Plywood for over 20 years. Mr. Ward served his country in the United States Marine Corp during the Korean Conflict.
Mr. Corbett is survived by his daugther; Juanita W. Goodwin (Roger) of Whiteville, four grandchildren; Ashley Benson Hobbs (Tony), Kevin Bryan Goodwin, Corbitt Ray Benson and April McKeithan Thomas, and one sister Lillian Cribb of Whiteville.
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, September 2, 2020 at 2:00 pm in the McKenzie Mortuary Chapel with Rev. Don Squires officiating. Burial with Military Honors will follow in the Hosea-Simmons Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00 - 1:45 pm prior to the service.
