Charles Eli Sikes

Charles Eli Sikes, age 86, of Whiteville, passed away peacefully Wednesday, August 4, 2021 at the Lower Cape Fear Angel House in Whiteville.  Charles was born in Savannah, Ga on July 31, 1935 to the late Ed Luther Sikes and Grace Ellen Sikes.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sons; Michael Scott Sikes and Charles Edwin Sikes.

Charles served his country in the United States Army and also worked as a Vibration Analyst for Mundy Chemical Industries.

He is survived by a daughter; Melinda Sikes Powell (Greg) of Whiteville, a son; Robert Barry Sikes (Kim) of Piedmont, SC, former spouse; Margaret Sikes of Whiteville, five grandchildren; Mark Sikes, Brandy Sikes, Ashly Sikes, Christopher Powell and Meagan Sikes, and three great grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held at 3:00 pm on Sunday, August 8, 2021, at the McKenzie Mortuary Chapel with the Rev. David Heller officiating.  Burial will follow in the Columbus Memorial Park, Whiteville.  The family will receive friends from 2:00 pm - 2:45 pm prior to the service.
