Cecil Anthony "Andy" Godwin, age 66, of the Crusoe Community, passed away with his family by his side on Wednesday, January 22, 2025 at Columbus Regional Healthcare in Whiteville, NC.  He was born in Columbus County on March 31, 1958 to the late Cecil Godwin and Lucille Ward Godwin.  In addition to his parents, Andy is preceded in death by his son; Trooper Anthony Shawn Godwin and a sister; Deborah Simmons.

Everybody knew him as Andy.  He worked as a nuclear electrician for 25 years.  Andy was an avid coon hunter and deer hunter and loved to hunt in the swamps around Columbus County.  Another of his passions was raising coon dogs.  He would travel for competition hunts and people would hire him to train their pups for competition hunts.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife; Mary Gwendolyn “Gwen” Godwin of the home, two sons; Zachary Ryan Godwin of Whiteville and Steven Christopher Ray (Melissa) of Mooresville, NC, a daughter; Kelly Godwin of Nakina, NC, a brother; Waylon Kent Godwin of Crusoe, NC, a daughter in law; Heather Tyree Godwin of Whiteville, grandchildren; Mandeline Ray, Landry Godwin, Grayanna Godwin, Owen Tedder, and several step grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, January 28, 2025, at 2:00 pm at Macedonia Original Free Will Baptist Church, 216 Crusoe Island Road, Whiteville, NC with Rev. Jamie Ward officiating.  Burial with military honors will follow in the church cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 1:00 - 1:45 pm prior to the service.
