Carolyn Meggs Prease, age 89, of Whiteville, NC, passed away peacefully Thursday, September 23, 2021, at New Hanover Regional Medical Center.  She was born in Bladen County on July 7, 1932 to the late Noah Meggs and Mary Horton Meggs.  In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband of 52 years; Thomas William (Bill) Prease.

Carolyn was a long time member of Western Prong Baptist Church.  She began working at Waccamaw Bank which later became UCB.  She then worked in the Columbus County Clerk of Court Division for 25 years.

She leaves to cherish her memory her two sons; Dr. William “Billy” E. Prease (fiancé-Lou Ella Todd) of Whiteville, NC and Owen Whitney Prease (wife-Felicia) of Wilmington, NC, a sister; Joyce M. Pate of Durham, NC, two Grandsons; William Prease and Jacob Prease and a Granddaughter; Caroline Prease.

A graveside service will be held on Sunday, September 26, 2021 at 3:00 pm at the Western Prong Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Ronnie Wilson officiating.

She was deeply loved by her family and the community.
