Billy Ray Bright, age 69, of Hallsboro, passed away peacefully at his home on Monday, November 18, 2024.  Billy was born in Columbus County on January 20, 1955 to the late William Haynes Bright and Dorothy Lee Wright Bright.

Billy had worked as a carpenter for 18 years and worked at his craft for International Paper.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife; Carol Scherer Bright of the home, daughter; Rebekkah Lauren Bright of Beulaville, NC, brothers; Donald Keith Bright and Charles Bright both of Whiteville, sister; Wanda B. Jones of Lake Waccamaw, and 3 Grandchildren; Ciarra Wilson, Julian Velasquez and Angelo Velasquez.

A funeral service will be held on Thursday, November 21, 2024 at 2:00 pm in the McKenzie Mortuary Chapel with Rev. Darryll Hester officiating.  Burial will follow in Flynn Cemetery.  The family will receive friends on Wednesday, November 20, 2024, from 6:00 – 8:00 pm at McKenzie Mortuary.
