Arthur Larry Fisher

Arthur Larry Fisher, passed away on March 2, 2023 in Fort Collins, Colorado. Larry was born in Whiteville, NC on March 12, 1945, the oldest of four children born to Gladys Mae Clifton and Henry Alonzo Fisher. After graduating from Whiteville High School, he attended Wingate College. In 1965 he married Olivia Faye "Libby" Lewis, the daughter of Peggy Nye and John Henry "Jack" Lewis of Whiteville. After their marriage, they moved to Jacksonville, Florida where they were both employed by the Atlantic Coast Line Railroad. After living several years in Jacksonville, they moved to Orange Park, Florida to raise their daughter, Lorenda. Larry and Libby were married twenty-two years before Libby passed away in May 1987.

Larry remarried in 1991 to Gwanda Phillips Paulk, the daughter of Velma Chapman and Lee Edward Phillips. Gwanda and Larry were very involved in their church activities at First Baptist Church of Orange Park. Both enjoyed traveling in their RV and were fortunate to be able to visit 49 of the 50 states. Larry retired after forty years from the CSX Railroad in June 2005. Larry and Gwanda were married for 29 years before Gwanda passed away in December 2020.

Due to declining health, Larry relocated to Fort Collins, Colorado in 2022 to be closer to his daughter and her family. He is survived by his daughter, Lorenda Fisher Volker and husband Frank, of Fort Collins; granddaughter, Tiffany Volker Miller and husband Matthew of Castle Rock, Colorado and great-granddaughter, Madeleine Brooke "Maddie" Miller and great-grandson due in April; grandson, Brandon Volker of Fort Collins. He is also survived by stepson, Brian Paulk and wife Alice and grandson, Nathan Paulk of Orange Park, Florida. Step-daughter, Erin Paulk of Jacksonville, Florida and granddaughter, Heather Paulk-Smith of Orange Park, Florida. His surviving siblings are Brenda Fisher Johnson, and Frederick Fisher and wife Tulah, both of Whiteville, and Diane Fisher Moore of Wake Forest, NC.

A graveside service will be held at Union Valley Baptist Church Cemetery, 2322 Smyrna Rd, Whiteville, NC, on Sunday, March 12, 2023 at 2:30 pm. Edwin Skipper will officiate the service.
