Miriam Marks Obituary

Miriam Sweum Marks, 79, died Thursday, August 8, 2019 at the Lower Cape Fear Hospice Center, Whiteville, NC.  She was born July 21, 1940, the daughter of the late A.E. Sweum and Miriam Richardson Sweum Robbins.  In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband; Lemuel Marks; her stepfather; W. Carl Robbins, her sister Irmalee King and brother; Arthur Sweum.

Miriam graduated from Whiteville High School and Fugazzi Business College and spent her career in Medical Records at Chadbourn Medical Center and Columbus Regional Hospital.

Her family was most precious to her and she enjoyed traditional family gatherings and celebrations surrounded by her siblings, children and grandchildren.  She was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Whiteville.

She is survived by her son; Michael Bradley Dale of Whiteville, her daughter; Elizabeth Marks Anstett (Jon) of Wilmington, her brother; William Robbins (Jeanne) of Raleigh, six grandchildren; Michael Dale, Barrett Anstett, Lawson Anstett, Lauren Anstett, Ashton Anstett, and Bauer Anstett.

A Graveside Service will be held Monday, August 12, 2019, at 11:00 am at Whiteville Memorial Cemetery with Rev. Dr. Joseph D. Washburn officiating.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to First Presbyterian Church, 511 N. Thompson St., Whiteville, NC  28472 or Lower Cape Fear Hospice, 206 Warrior Trail, Whiteville, NC  28472.
