Leon Merritt

Whiteville : Leon Merritt, 91 of Whiteville formerly of Dillon, S.C. died  Monday, December 24,2018 at Shoreland Healthcare in Whiteville. He was the son of the late Johnny Merritt and Elsie Humphrey Merritt. He was born in Dillon, S.C. and in later years joined the U.S. Navy and served in  WWII serving as a Instrumentation operator on Boeing Air Craft.and later joined the U.S. Army. He attended New Life Church in Whiteville.

Survivors include daughters, Regina  M. Farrand of Spokane, Washington, Claudia Mortensen of Arizona, Carol Merritt of Huntington, Idaho and Heidi Merritt of Washington,  sons, Paul Merrit of Brinnon, Washington,  Mark Merritt of Arizona,  Matthew Merritt of Elk, Washington and Robert Merritt of Washington . Special friend, Doris Lynn of Whiteville.

Funeral Service will be Wednesday, January 2, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. at McKenzie Mortuary Chapel. Burial will follow in the Lake View Cemetery @ 124 Hilltop Rd. Lake View, S.C.

Visitation will be Wednesday at McKenzie Mortuary from 1:00 p.m. until 1:45 prior to the service.
