Elton Stephens Obituary

Mr. Elton L. “Tebo” Stephens, 89, of Wadesboro, NC, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, March 3, 2019.

There will be a service to celebrate his life at 2:00 pm, Thursday, March 7, 2019 at the First United Methodist Church, Wadesboro with the Rev. Dr. Sarah B. Kalish officiating.  The family will greet friends prior to the service from 12:45 pm until 1:45 pm at the church.

A graveside service will be at 11:00 am, Friday, March 8, 2019 at Hillcrest Cemetery, Lake Waccamaw, NC with Rev. Fred Senter officiating.

Tebo was born October 27, 1929 in Tabor City, NC the son of the late Rozier Liston and Beulah Watts Stephens.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Carolyn Frink Stephens and a sister, Cecile Stephens Kennedy.

Surviving is a son, Charles Garry (Barbara) Stephens of Fuquay Varina, NC; grandson, James Edward (Madison Pace – fiancé) Stephens of Fuquay Varina, NC; a nephew, Albert M. (Carol) Kennedy of Schwenksville, PA; and a niece, Cecilia Kennedy (Donald) Mayall of Pennsburg, PA.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to First United Methodist Church, 118 E. Morgan St., Wadesboro, NC  28170.

Arrangements in Wadesboro are being handled by Leavitt Funeral Home.  Online condolences may be made at www.leavittfh.com.  Arrangements in Whiteville are being handled by McKenzie Mortuary.
