Barbara Jean Young

Hallsboro: Barbara Jean Young, 72 of Hallsboro died Wednesday, August 23,2017 , She was the daughter of the late Otto Young and Ruth Todd Young .  She was a member of Hallsboro Baptist Church and was a member of Lake Waccamaw Fire & Rescue for 36 years  where she had served as a former chief. She had also worked with Southeastern  Community College  as an Adult Education EMT Instructor from 2000-2011. In addition to her working years , she had worked with Todd Furniture Company for over 15 years, Cape Fear Dupont, Wilmington, N.C., a dedicated member  of Columbus County EMT with Buckhead Rescue Dept. and Columbus County EMT with Lake Waccamaw Rescue Dept.
Survivors include her brother, Richard Young (Judy) of Whiteville, N.C. Nephews, Ricky Young( Melissa) of Rockingham, N.C. and Brandon Young ( Fiancée Valerie) of  Hallsboro, NC , Great-Nephew, Brett Young , Great- Niece,Taylor Young and a Devoted Caregiver, Candace Thompkins.
Funeral Service will be Saturday,  August 26,2017 at 2:00 p.m. at the Hallsboro Baptist Church  with Rev. Scott Lewis and Rev. Danny Williams officiating . Burial will follow in the Flynn Cemetery.
Visitation will be Friday, August 25,2017 at McKenzie Mortuary from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.
