Alva Harold Smith

Hallsboro:  Alva Harold Smith, 86 of Hallsboro died Tuesday, January 1, 2019 at his residence. He was the son of the late Alva Sidney Smith and Leola High Smith. He was preceded in death by his wife, Clara Batten Smith and brothers, Charlie Smith and Billy Smith.

He was a member of Hallsboro United Methodist Church . He served in the U.S. Army during WWII. He was a farmer and worked as a pipefitter in construction work.

He was a well loved man by his family and friends. He had an enduring love and devotion for his family. The term, The King of the Hill will be missed dearly by his family and friends.

Survivors include his daughter, Beth Smith Olson of Hallsboro, N.C. two grandchildren, Evan and Bradley Olson. Special niece,  Kathryn Smith Foley of Lake Waccamaw, N.C.  Nephews, LeGrande Smith of Lake Waccamaw, N.C. , Gene Smith, Bobby Smith and Donald Smith.

Funeral Service will be Saturday,  January 5,2019 at 11:00 a.m. at McKenzie Mortuary Chapel with Rev. Bobby Smith officiating with burial following in the Flynn Cemetery.

Visitation will be Friday night January 4, 2019 at McKenzie Mortuary from 6-8 p.m.
