Whiteville: Wallace James “W.J. “ Phillips , 89 of Whiteville died Thursday , June 29,2017 at the Columbus Regional Healthcare in Whiteville.  He was the son of the late Giles Warren  Phillips and   Flossie Durant.   He was preceded in death by 4 sisters and 4 brothers. He was  a painter and wall paper contractor and later became co-owner of J & Mac’s  Grill .  He served in the U.S. Navy  during WWII and was a member of Missionary Alliance Church.
Survivors include his wife, Gladys Formyduval  Phillips of Whiteville, N.C. , daughters; Belinda (Lin) Moore , Priscilla A. Phillips and Mary P. Bullard, all of Whiteville, N.C., one brother, Rev. Bobby E. Phillips of Whiteville, N.C. Three Grandchildren, Seven Great- Grandchildren  and several nieces and nephews.
A Graveside Service will be Sunday, July 2, 2017 at 3:00 p.m. at the Powell Cemetery, Fair Bluff with Rev. Bobby E. Phillips and Rev. Justin DuBose officiating.  Visitation will be Saturday, July 1st, 2017
at McKenzie Mortuary  from 7-9 p.m.  Memorials may be made to the Missionary Alliance Church or
to  the Columbus Christian Academy, both @ P.O. Box 1100 , Whiteville, N.C. 28472   .
